Even the most positive of Patty's out there can get down every once in a while, especially when you're balancing life, family, work, training, and the million other balls we're juggling.  So what do you do when you're just not up for it today? Because let's be honest, sometimes you don't have a choice but to get it done. Here are some of my secrets to turning my day around.

BRAIN DUMP

When I’m anxious I tend to overthink and overanalyze. So one of the things that have helped me is to write it all down. It puts things into perspective. I realize that the things that I’m stressing over are either untrue or out of my control. It one of the ways that I recenter.

DANCE PARTY

Nothing changes my mood like music! Create a Happy playlist. I will turn on some pump up music and dance in the kitchen while I’m making my dogs breakfast! And trust me there are also no better dance partners than your pups!

SWEAT IT OUT

One of the things that I’ve realized is that the days you don’t feel like working out are the days that you 100% should. I like to blast music and really sweat. I don’t actually like to powerlift when I’m in a bad mood bc the in-between rest time gives me a chance to think and overanalyze. I prefer to do cardio- something fast paced like HIIT that keeps me moving and the only thing I can think about is my breathing.

BE CREATIVE

I love to bullet journal and letter. I find it relaxing. When you’re being creative, in whatever form that is for you, you’re not thinking about other things outside of that and it calms your brain down.

SHOWER

I like to shower, but taking a bath is probably a good alternative. Similar to being creative, showering for me is very calming and it helps me feel centered, refreshed and renewed.

These are my five, but find what makes you happy and clear-headed and take on the day is the strongest way!
